Ray Charron

Aloha and thank you for visiting my fund raising page. And thank you in advance for donating anything you can to the Red Sox Foundation through my page. The goal is $5000 minimum so every little bit helps.

Anyone who knows me knows I have two sports passions: Marathon running and the Red Sox.

For 40+ years I have been running marathons. I have run over 100 of them, running in many states and on varied terrain. I have a streak going with at least one marathon a year for 40 years.

For 60+ years I have been rooting for the Bosox. I was born in Massachusetts and my Dad was a big Sox fan. I went to Fenway for the first time in the 1950s. My license plate in Hawaii where I live is RDSOX1.

So you can imagine how excited I am to be one of only 50 people to be accepted to participate in the innaugeral Fenway Park Marathon. Combining my two passions in one event is mindboggling to me. We'll be running 112 loops inside Fenway Park along the warning track and the base lines. To be able to run by (and bang on) the Green Monster 112 times (past where all the great leftfielders like Ted Williams, Yaz and Jim Race played) gives me chickenskin just thinking about it.

I have run in many interesting events, including running in a relay across America twice. But running a marathon in Fenway will be the highlight of my long career.

Anyhow, please donate what you can through my page to the Jimmy Fund and all the other causes the Red Sox Foundation supports. And if you are in Boston on Friday, Sept. 15 around 5 p.m. please stop by Fenway and cheer us on. Free entry and a chance to be part of Red Sox history as they host the first ever marathon in a major league ballpark.

Mahalo Nui Loa, Ray
